TropeTrainer™ software is a Windows only program. There are, however, software programs that allow the Macintosh computer to run the software.
If you have a Macintosh computer with a PowerPC processor, Virtual PC from Microsoft (http://www.microsoft.com/mac/products/virtualpc/virtualpc.aspx?pid=virtualpc) allows the Mac to run Windows program, although slower than a PC. The software is still being sold but is not supported by Microsoft. Price, including Windows XP home is $249.00.
For Macs with an Intel processor, there are several solutions:
Parallels (http://www.parallels.com) is virtual machine software. Paired with Windows XP Home or Pro, TropeTrainer™ software runs at the same speed as on a PC computer. Parallel's technical support is through email. Parallels provides full access to TropeTrainer™ features. Cost is $79.95 plus the cost of Windows XP, from Parallels, Mac stores and many other vendors of Mac software.
VM Fusion by Code Weaver is a program similar in function to Parallels. Kinnor has not tested this program with TropeTrainer™ software, but the reviews on Fusion indicate that it performs and functions just as Parallels.
Crossover (http://www.codeweavers.com/products/) allows some Windows software (including TropeTrainer™ software) to run without a copy of the Windows OS. The program is slow to open but TropeTrainer™ software runs at speeds equal to that of a PC with limited functionality The midi instruments do not play and the tutorial lessons are not displayed correctly. Codeweaver's technical support is very limited. Tutorials do not display properly. Price is $59.95 from CodeWeavers. Not recommended.
